Travel Planning to Arrive On-Time for Check-in

Arrival & Check-in:

We request that everyone arrive and check-in on time so we all start our retreat together on:

Thurs. Sept 10, 2026
between 11 am - 12 noon

Or Wed., 3:30 to 4:30, for those arriving a day early.

There will be people to help guide you to parking and the check-in area.

We truly appreciate your timely arrival! We start Camp at 2pm.

 

Travel:

Artists join us from across the US and California, so we have provided travel suggestions for Driving and Flying.

Please check your drive-times in the days before arrival and plan for traffic, stops for lunch, gas, or anything else you need on your way.

It is suggested that those who are flying arrive in Southern CA, on Wednesday. Select Early Arrival on Registration. Check-in is between 3:30-4:30 on Wed.

Driving from an airport to Camp? You are responsible for your own arrangements.

  • Car Rental: for 6-7 days. (Recommended)

  • Come with a friend! Take advantage of the Bring a Friend Discount and ride together!

  • Car Pooling: (not recommended - but the registrar will try to put people in touch)

    • Request car pool on your registration. No guarantees.

    • Registrar provides contact info of campers who have stated they might be available. It is up to you to make arrangements.

    • Camp is not responsible, and assumes no liability for car pooling arrangements

  • Ride App: Ride Share apps like Uber or Lyft may be an option but could be expensive and some drivers may not want to drive to a remote location.


Suggestions for flying into Southern California and arriving at Camp during the windows between 3:30 - 4:30 on Wed. or 11:00-12:00 on Thurs.

Option 1:

Fly Wednesday—a day before camp. Stay near airport and Drive Thurs.

  • Spend the night near your airport and get up early.

  • Ride up to camp on Thursday morning.

  • Stop to buy a lunch to eat at camp. No lunch is served on Thurs. Dinner will be the first meal.

  • Arrive between 11 and noon on Thurs. (Please read driving section and calculate driving time to avoid traffic.) Punctuality is necessary and appreciated.

Option 2:

Early Arrivals: Fly Wednesday early.
Drive Wed. arriving between 3:30-4:30 pm.

  • Register for Early Arrival at Camp ($40 extra)

  • Take an early morning flight or red-eye

  • Land at airport between 10 and noon (please see driving times above for your airport)

  • Based on your method of driving transport chosen above, plan your drive.

  • On the way, stop to buy an easy dinner, breakfast, and lunch (refrigerators and microwaves are available. Coffee, tea, cocoa, and artesian water are always provided.) Option to “go out to eat” at the one restaurant in Angelus Oaks, a 15 min. drive. The first meal served at camp is Thurs. dinner.

  • Arrive between 3:30 and 4:30. punctuality is necessary and appreciated.

  • Check in and settle into your peaceful Mountain Cabin to start unwinding and exploring!

Option 3:

Fly in on Thursday (not recommended)

  • Take a red-eye

  • Land by 6-7am (allow for rush hour traffic from your airport)

  • Buy take-out lunch at the airport

  • Ride/Drive to camp on Thursday morning

  • Arrive at camp on Thursday between 11 and noon (please be punctual - both necessary and appreciated)

  • Check in and settle into your peaceful Mountain Cabin to start your Art Retreat! There will not be time for a nap!

If you are flying, Travel Insurance is recommended.


Art Camp officially starts promptly at 2pm on Thursday

  • 2pm - Orientation (mandatory)

  • 3pm - First Intensive Class

  • 6pm - Dinner

  • 7pm - Camper Show & Tell of their art (‘til about 8:15pm)
