Laura has been involved in Art Camp 4 Grown-ups and Camp de Benneville Pines for many years. Some of you know her as camp’s previous registrar, others might remember her as a workshop leader, teaching Silk Painting in 2015 and 2016. She’s very excited to be a leading Fabric Painting workshops again this year.

Her journey with silk painting began many, many years ago when her older sister fell in love with a hand-painted Christian Dior wedding gown she had seen. Needless to say, the family couldn’t afford it and her mom said “That’s okay, Laura can do it!” This was way before the advent of Google, so off she went to the local library and got a book. That was the start of her love for this medium.

Literally, once her brush touched the silk, she was entranced by the magic of the silk’s translucence. The vibrancy of color, the flow of the inks or paints can mesmerize both the artist and the viewer.
